About
Our Story
At Sherwood & Company, we’ve always believed that real estate is about more than property — it’s about people, families, and the neighborhoods we share. Our work puts us in living rooms and kitchens across our community, and we see firsthand the challenges many families face: rising costs, limited resources, and complicated financial systems that can feel overwhelming to navigate.
During the uncertainty surrounding the 2025 government shutdown and the potential loss or delay of SNAP benefits for many families, we saw something clearly — sometimes, even stable households can find themselves one unexpected moment away from not having what they need. And when that happens, it shouldn’t be met with shame, silence, or being left to figure it out alone.
So we created the Sherwood & Company Charitable Foundation, Inc. as a way to step in, neighbor to neighbor, where support matters most.
What began as a plan to simply help families bridge the gap in access to food quickly revealed a deeper need: clear, accessible education around real-life finances, housing, credit, retirement planning, and homeownership. Not the kind of advice found on the internet in a million pieces — but practical, understandable guidance that builds confidence and stability over time.
We realized we didn’t just want to help families get through the week.
We wanted to help families build security for the years ahead.
Today, the foundation supports families in two ways:
Immediate Support
Food, school supplies, and essential items for families experiencing financial strain.Long-Term Empowerment
Free educational workshops and one-on-one guidance on budgeting, credit, mortgages, retirement basics, and navigating homeownership — taught with patience, warmth, and real-world clarity.
Because strong communities aren’t built by institutions alone.
They’re built by neighbors looking out for neighbors, one act of care and one shared conversation at a time.
This is our commitment:
Support today. Stability tomorrow. Opportunity always.
And we’re grateful to be doing it right here, at home.
Mission
To strengthen families in our community by providing essential resources and accessible education in financial literacy, housing, and everyday stability tools — helping create both relief today and opportunity for tomorrow.
Vision
We envision a community where every family feels supported, informed, and empowered — where access to food, knowledge, and opportunity isn’t determined by income. A community where people look out for one another, where dignity is honored, and where long-term stability is a shared priority.
Core Values
Dignity
Every person deserves respect, care, and the space to make choices for themselves and their families.
Community
We believe in neighbors helping neighbors — relationships and shared effort are how change happens.
Empowerment
Knowledge is long-term power. We teach real-world financial and housing skills that create independence and confidence.
Stability
Small, consistent support builds lasting foundation. We work to create lasting impact, not quick fixes.
Transparency
We operate with honesty, clarity, and responsible stewardship of all resources entrusted to us.
Compassion
We listen first. We show up without judgment. We meet people where they are.
Why give?
-
✽
Financial confidence changes everything.
We teach real-world skills like budgeting, credit building, and how to navigate housing and homeownership. -
✽
Everyone deserves a fair shot.
Opportunity shouldn’t depend on what’s in your wallet. We’re here to level the playing field. -
✽
Small acts create real change.
A bag of groceries. A helpful conversation. The right information at the right moment. It all matters. -
✽
We are neighbors helping neighbors.
Local families, local support, local impact. When our community rises, we all rise. -
✽
Strong communities are built on support.
Sometimes that means a warm meal, a backpack for school, or simply knowing someone cares. -
✽
The goal isn’t just to get through today.
It’s to build stability, confidence, and long-term independence — one family at a time.
