Fenway is more than the ballpark — though it is very much also the ballpark. Beyond Fenway Park's walls, the neighborhood holds the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Symphony Hall a block away, and the marshy ribbon of the Back Bay Fens, Frederick Law Olmsted's Emerald Necklace running right through the middle of it all. The Longwood Medical Area sits directly across the Fens, which makes Fenway one of the most practical addresses in the city for hospital and research staff.

The housing market splits two ways: prewar brick apartment buildings and bowfront condos on the older blocks, and a decade-plus of new construction — full-service towers with doormen, gyms, and roof decks — clustered around Boylston Street. Green Line branches thread the neighborhood's edges and the 39 bus and Orange Line at Ruggles are close by.
